We had a fantastic birding and wildlife tour of Uganda with our expert specialist bird guide Alex Gabiito from African Skimmer Tours. We saw and photographed hundreds of species of birds, butterflies and of course all the usual safari animals (including the big 5). Alex was also very good at identifying all of the reptiles and frogs that we encountered on our trip. Alex’s knowledge and experience in birding was very impressive and he had an exceptional eye for spotting birds and a good local knowledge of where to find the birds. I am a keen photographer of birds and Alex was extremely patient in allowing us time to take the photographs. He has also been very generous in helping me identify the birds in some of the photographs that I took, months after we have returned from our trip with him. We found Alex to be cheerful, patient and an excellent driver. Uganda was extremely beautiful, with many large lakes, rivers, waterfalls and mountains. The accommodation that Alex organized was always clean and comfortable, and all came with amazing views. The food was also good with lots of fresh fruit and locally caught fish. Everything about the tour ran smoothly and was well organized. We had an amazing holiday, and I cannot recommend African Skimmer Tours and Alex’s birding abilities more highly. Alex is a truly excellent bird guide.
