Carlos was a fantastic guide. He picked me up at my hotel and took me to the Macuquinho Lodge in São Paolo Brazil (just outside of Salesópolis). I had a fantastic time, the lodge staff was super nice and the accommodations were very clean and we saw some amazing birds - We saw just under 100 species and I am still processing all of the photos that I took. Carlos was great at IDing the birds and ensuring that I had a good photo opportunity when they would cooperate! Carlos dropped me off the next day back the the São Paolo airport. It was great having Carlos and I felt 100% safe the entire time!

My sister and I went on a day trip with Carlos starting in São Paulo, visiting spots in Mogi das Cruzes and Salesópolis and were incredibly happy with the experience. Organizing the trip was straightforward and Carlos was able to make suggestions according to our budget and timeframe. He was incredibly knowledgeable and we were particularly impressed by his ability to recognise songs/calls, allowing us to locate a lot more birds than we would usually. We found Carlos profesional but also easy going and a lovely birding companion. We would definitely return for longer trips and recommend him to others!

Thank you Carlos for a great birding experience. Carlos is a very knowledgeable guide who is excellent at getting his clients on birds. Additionally, he is a fun companion to travel with, friendly and willing to converse with his clients. We had a great stay at Trilha dos Tucanos and Carlos got us on many life birds. He has an excellent ear for bird sounds and he can usually find the birds he’s hearing. Plus, he was even willing to play dice and cards games in the evenings after dinner. We are very happy with our experience and highly recommend Carlos for anyone looking for a great bird guide!

I've just returned from a week-long birding trip to southeastern Brazil with Carlos, who is a superb guide. Sharp-eyed and remarkably skilled at locating and identifying birds by ear, he was able to find and call in an impressive number of species, including quite a few that are rare and/or typically difficult to observe. He also knows the other animals and plants in the habitats we visited. Carlos is highly organized and efficient--he made all the arrangements for ground transportation, lodging, food and local guides--and kept to the schedule (while still managing to accommodate the occasional last-minute special request). He's also an excellent driver, navigating even the roughest dirt roads with ease. His easygoing personality and enthusiasm for birding made the experience all the more enjoyable. I hope to travel with him again in the future.

I had the pleasure of birding with Carlos Henrique de Almeida for several days during a recent trip to Brazil. Carlos Henrique is a biologist with academic and research training and has an extensive knowledge of the native flora and fauna, especially herps and birds. He is an exceptional birder with an amazing ear for bird calls and songs. Carlos Henrique was able to hear birds from great distances and immediately recognize the species. He was willing and able to satisfy my requests for target species which are frequently difficult to see. In addition to being a fantastic guide, Carlos Henrique is very patient and personable, a very safe driver, and has excellent people and communication skills. He arranged lodging and my meals to meet my vegan diet, as well as drove me to specific locations to see target species. Overall, I had an unforgettable birding experience and I highly recommend Carlos Henrique as an outstanding bird guide in Brazil.

I've worked with many guides and Carlos is as good as they get. He took us to several great hotspots with different habitat types around Salesopolis, Brazil. He was very effective at identifying birds by their calls and helping us to get good looks at these birds. As a result we saw over 70 species. In addition, Carlos was easy to communicate with and took care of the food, water and transportation for us. If I get an opportunity to go birding with Carlos again I will gladly do so.

My wife and I have gone to Ubatuba, Itatiaia, Intervales (4 times!), Fazenda Bacury, Areia que Canta, Trilha dos Tucanos, Serra da Canastra, Minas Gerais, Peruibe, San Miguel Arcanjo, and other locations in Southeast Brazil with Carlos Henrique on five different trips (2012, 2016, 2019 (2 trips), and 2022) and greatly enjoyed the birding with Carlos. He is a trained biologist and an excellent birder, with a good ear and a quick eye for birds. He’s very skilled at showing the birds to his clients. We have seen several hundred species of birds on our trips. Carlos is good company, and speaks English. And he knows the English, Portuguese, and Latin names for all the birds! In addition, he’s an excellent bird photographer and a very good driver. We plan on doing other trips with Carlos and would gladly recommend him to others who want a birding guide during their visit to Brazil.
