My 14 yr old son and I had an unforgettable trip with Davis and Wide Birding Eco Tours. We went for about 15 days. I could write a ton of great things but I will focus on more brief bullet points that I think apply to birders like me trying to decide on the right guide. * Davis did a great job looking out for us, making us comfortable, making sure we got what we wanted out of the experience. English is taught in Ugandan schools so he obviously spoke great English, and we really didn't have any issues communicating with other Ugandans and Rwandans throughout the trip. I wasn't expecting that. * He is very knowledgeable of locations throughout Rwanda and Uganda. Plus, you could tell he had strong local relationships every where we went which I could tell helped improve the experience. He also brought in very knowledgeable local guides at key times which made the experience even better. * Davis himself is an excellent, expert birder, both by sight and sound. He has been birding since his youth. Plus he's not only good at it but clearly loved it, and surrounded us with other guides who loved birding as well. * He chose very comfortable lodges with good food. * Birding was our priority but we wanted to keep on the lookout for other animals and he did a great job incorporating that. We saw the Big 5 and plenty more. He knew his mammals really well too. It was an amazing trip and we are very grateful for Davis and Wide Birding Eco Tours!

My husband and I completed a 15-day private birding tour in Kenya (Western Circuit) with Wide Birding Eco Tour in August. We had the pleasure of being guided by 2 marvelous bird guides, Davis Kibuga and James Apolloh Omenya. We birded in 8 National Parks/Reserves throughout southwestern Kenya and logged almost 400 bird species in addition to many mammals and reptiles. Our guides not only knew the birds, they also knew the mammals and plants. Apolloh, in particular, not only knew every bird along our routes by name, he also knew all the bird calls and where to find them. Many times we would stop at specific locations, sometimes along a highway, to call for a specific species and the bird would come. It was uncanny! To see our guides consult books and discuss about birds was fascinating. Their passion for birding was apparent and truly contagious. Our trip was well organized from beginning to end. (Even before the trip, Davis was prompt in answering any question/concern we had so we felt very safe traveling with him.) Though the travel times between the National Parks/Reserves were long and the roads at times bumpy, we were not bored as we stopped along the way to log more species. At some birding sites, we were joined by a local birding guide who showed us the specialties at that site. We felt extra special as there were 3 guides for the two of us. Considered the superb guiding and mostly mid-range accommodations and food, we believe this budget-friendly tour was of very good value. We were impressed not only by their knowledge and enthusiasm about birds and other wildlife but by the way our guides carried themselves. In addition to his work as a birding and wildlife guide, Davis also supports the children in the communities along the routes he travels as well as in his own community in Uganda. As his guests, we were given the opportunity to bring along used clothes and toys which we would distribute to children along our routes. Davis also uses these opportunities to educate the children about the importance of birds and conservation at these stops. In addition to the birds of Kenya, we have learned a great deal from our guides about the culture and life in East Africa. Thank you, Davis and Apolloh, for a well-planned and rewarding trip. We look forward to returning one day to bird in Uganda and Eastern Kenya with you again.

I had the pleasure of traveling through Uganda with Davis as my guide, and the experience was truly exceptional. From the beginning, he was incredibly kind and understanding, especially when I decided to change accommodations - he made the transition seamless and stress-free. I was thoroughly impressed by Davis's extensive knowledge of the animal kingdom, particularly his expertise as a certified bird guide. Although I am personally not particularly interested in birds, he actually made me curious about them. For anyone passionate about birdwatching, Davis is definitely the guide you want by your side. What I appreciated most was Davis's positive, calm, and friendly demeanor. He has a way of making you feel comfortable and at ease throughout the trip while also respecting your need for personal space. His organizational skills were also top-notch, ensuring that every aspect of the journey was well-coordinated and enjoyable. For anyone traveling to Uganda (especially if you have an interest in birdwatching) I highly recommend Davis. His professionalism, knowledge, and warm personality make him an outstanding guide.

East Africa (Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya) Trip Report: June 17th thru July 7th 2024 I arrived in Kigali, Rwanda in the afternoon, and was picked up by Davis at the airport. We went to the boutique hotel I was staying at, and I was able to rest up for the start of the trip, the next day. I am a 75 year old photographer in good shape for my age, specializing in birds, so I require more time with the birds to get my shots. My main target for this trip was the Shoebill Stork, as well as other colorful/interesting looking birds. Davis had secured a regional guides for Rwanda and Kenya, as well as local guides for all three countries. He really thought of everything, including an endless supply of bottled water and a cooler for cold drinks. I had requested "budget" lodging, since I wouldn't be spending much time inside. All of the lodges/hotels were clean and comfortable. I had researched Davis before committing to him for this trip, and found he was one of the top eBird contributors in Uganda. I was not disappointed. He found so many birds that I never would have seen on my own, and was continually finding me new positions as the birds would move. The sign of a excellent birding guide. He also maintained a list of just the birds I photographed, since I'm not a "birder", who counts sightings as well. Along the way, we took boat trips, game drives, and many hikes. He is very flexible in making sure the activities are not more than you can handle. I have had private guides all over the world, and Davis is at the top of my list! Thanks to him, I had a great three week safari.

I had the pleasure of going birding with Davis on 22 April and on 26 April 2024. We went to a number of sites in and around Entebbe,, including in Mabamba swamp and at the Entebbe botanical gardens. We had a lot of opportunities to see birds en route to Mabamba swamp and around Entebbe. It was evident that Davis is very passionate about birds. He is very knowledgeable and was quick to correctly identify the calls and sighting of birds. He is quite experienced and has one of the sharpest eyes I have come across for spotting birds in any environment. He has extensive knowledge of bird calls and can indeed whistle out many calls himself! We managed to get a number of new species for me in the different spots we went to. He was punctual, friendly, flexible, patient and went to great lengths to ensure that we saw the specials in the areas we visited. Davis is also a dependable driver. I will definitely reach out to Davis in the future for a more extensive birding experience across this beautiful country.

From the outset our trip was well planned, it went at a smooth constant pace and the wildlife was superb. Davis had a huge amount of knowledge about Ugandan wildlife and in a short seven days we notched up over 270 bird species and many mammal species. The variety of landscapes and habitats made for a very enjoyable experience. We had one or two issues with our vehicles on route but our guide dealt with them and kept us on the move. Davis is fun, very knowledgeable and has an incredible repertoire of bird calls. He introduced us to several other guides at various points of the trip who were equally skilled and knowledgeable. This was a great experience in Uganda and would recommend Davis to guide anyone across this superb country.

I traveled through western Uganda with Davis on a recent 2-week trip. This was a one-on-one journey and I had a fantastic time with him from start to finish. Davis is extremely knowledgeable about the birdlife of Uganda as well as other parts of East Africa. He also knows the logistics really well and put together a great itinerary, with flexibility built in so that we were able to adapt to changing conditions, birds seen or not seen, and my own interests. Finally, Davis is a very friendly person who is easy to talk to and clearly feeds off the enthusiasm of his clients. I look forward to traveling with him again and highly recommend him. He really knows how to make things happen for birders visiting the region, at great value, and does it all with Ugandan warmth and style.

Davis is a very knowledgeable bird guide who also has solid experience in wildlife tracking. He knows where to go for sightings and how to handle a 4-wheel drive on heavy terrain. On the highway, he’s a proper Max Verstappen ???? Fun guy to be around, very caring and trustworthy. Not only did he guide us very well, but he also urged us to visit a hospital when we were very sick and would have stayed in bed if he hadn’t advised us. We definitely needed tp be in that hospital, and he did everything he could to get us there and make us as comfortable as possible.

We planned a two week trip with Davis and wanted to be really flexible without a set program with every day full activities. So go to National Parks, and relax or rest when we wanted or needed it. From the start everything changed drastically because the day before our departure I had to contact Davis to not pick us from the place we where staying at the time, we were sick. And both got sicker and sicker. Due to several messages from Davis(we weren't very clear in the head anymore) he managed to let him pick us from that place and we went to a good hospital in Kampala. Things could have been very bad if he wasn't that persistent, so thank you so much! 4 days later we could travel to Lake Mburo, queen elizabeth, Kibale and Murchison Falls National Park. We have seen a lot! And I still dont understand how he could spot us a leopard that was so far away while driving a car in the bumpy potholed roads of Uganda. Very good!

We spent a week traveling with Kibuga Davis in Uganda at the end of September. Since we first contacted him, he has always answered our questions very quickly. He implemented all of our wishes regarding accommodation and vehicle very well. He is a very good driver, we felt safe with him at all times. Although we don't speak English very well, communication with him worked very well. The accommodations met the standard we wanted. The Land Cruiser was also in very good condition. Kibuga not only knows all the birds but also all the other animals very well and helps me determine the names even after the trip. We visited Mabamba Swamp, Lake Mburo NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Kibale Forest and Murchison NP. The highlight of our trip was the Shoebill sighting. We are planning another trip with Kibuga for 2024 where we want to look for special birds and monkeys. We can fully recommend Kibuga Davis as a guide. Monika & Holger Wagenbreth

Many thanks to Davis for an amazing first experience birding and wildlife watching in Uganda. We were mainly birding at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for the Albertine Rift endemics. Davis is very experienced and has very keen eyes for birds! One of my personal highlights was watching the beautiful endemic Rwenzori turaco in its full flight glory, twice, both spotted by Davis. Davis also went the extra mile to ensure that we obtained the gorilla tracking permits, and also to ensure my safety in the wilderness during the trip. The lodges arranged at Bwindi were beautiful and comfortable, and the food was great. We highly recommend him, and thanks again to Davis and Wide Birding Eco Tours Uganda for the unforgettable adventure!

I had an amazing experience birding with Davis in Uganda. Even though it was only a short trip, we still managed to see over 200 species, including over 20 of the Albertine Rift endemics, which were our targets. We spent a couple days in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP and one day in Mgahinga NP, and also birded in a few other spots in between to pick up some other specialities. Davis had great communication the whole time and arranged for us to have additional local guides that were extremely helpful in finding some of the difficult to detect species. We had a few issues along the way, including a car that wouldn't start and some last minute changes to the itinerary to accommodate gorilla tracking permits for some of our group, but he managed to maintain flexibility and adjust our schedule as needed. I highly recommend reaching out to Davis if you're planning a trip to Uganda!

Davis organised an amazing private trip for me. We met in Kampala and spent an unforgettable trip on circular route covering the north, west and south of the country. We saw almost 500 species, an incredible guiding achievement. Davis was a great companion. All the places we stayed were clean and comfortable and Davis organised all the logistics without a hitch. I would not hesitate to recommend his organisational and guiding skills and his unfailing good humour. I hope I can join him again on another trip.
