Lakpa has provided my wife and I with two wonderful birding experiences in Northern India, firstly in Sikkim in 2022 and secondly in Arunachal in 2023 when at all times the arrangements for transport and accommodation were professionally handled to the highest standards for the area. Lakpa is a highly skilled birder with an incredible level of knowledge both in bird sightings and in bird calls that made seeing some of the most difficult species possible. I would highly recommend Lakpa and his team, particularly to those very keen and energetic birders who are targeting the more difficult species and endemics.

I would rate Lakpa Tenzing as one of the finest birding guides in this country. I have done 2 trips with him. Assam and east Arunachal Pradesh including Walong and Mishmi hills. He is extremely dedicated and will leave no stone unturned in his quest to find the elusive bird. He is a bird photographer's true friend and literally coaxes the birds to pose in all their finery. He has the highest work ethics and will not hesitate to frown upon "unbirdfriendly" behaviour. His sharp ear misses no call. His sharp eye misses no detail. If I had a choice I would have him as my guide for every trip in the north and northeast. His knowledge of English is excellent and he appears to be a quiet and serious type but has a good sense of humor often exhibited only in the twinkle in his eyes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 15-days birding trip in Sikkim and West Bengal with Lakpa and his team. Due to his extensive knowledge and experience of the region, the trip was very well planned and executed in terms of birding locations, accommodation, food and transportation. Their knowledge of habitats and ability to recognise bird songs and calls helped us in spotting/identifying around 60% of the 300+ birds we saw during the trip. All Black Bird team members were very punctual, hard working and friendly. We highly recommend them. Thank you!

Lakpa is one of the finest birding guides in India. He is knowledgeable, humble and good human being. His knowledge of birds especially in North East India is a great asset. He speaks less but delivers a lot more :-) Highly recommended

Lakpa guided for me on 3 tours to Assam and West Bengal, looking after myself and my group of clients for 2 weeks each time. I have no hesitation in recommending Lakpa. He is an outstanding guide with a thorough knowledge of calls and identification features. He is sharp in the field and works hard to find the key species. He is a good organiser and makes sure the logistics work well. And he is a great guy to spend time with, friendly, relaxed and helpful. He speaks good English.

I wish there were 10 stars in this recommendation! Lakpa is an incredible birder, a super-organized guide and a wonderful human being. I've now been on several trips with him and the experiences I have had with him are just spectacular. He is of course a master of India's North-Eastern Himalayas, but his instinct is special, wherever he birds. The other thing that sets him apart is his work ethic. He is totally committed to doing his best and being organized is the foundation of that. He is meticulously planned and that helps overcome most of the many uncertainties that happen on any birding trip in the remote wildernesses. You cannot go wrong with Lakpa.

Lakpa is a nature's child having spent his childhood in the Himalayas. He has supplemented that intuitive understanding with proactive studies of flora and fauna to great effect. I have done four trips with Lakpa and each trip has not only added significantly to the life list but also to my understanding of the natural world. What's more many of the pictures that I have taken wouldn't have been likely but for him. He is also an organizer par excellence, whose attention to detail ensures that creature comforts are at their best possible. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who is seeking an enriching birding experience.

We (a group of three of us) birded Aranuchal and Assam with Lakpa. Despite encountering some testing conditions the trip was a great success which we all thoroughly enjoyed thanks to the birding skills of Lakpa - particularly his knowledge of bird vocalisations, and his ability to encourage three older birders whose ears (and eyes!) were definitely showing signs of the aging process :). In an area like NE India where conditions can be difficult and liable to sudden change Lakpa has the personality and logistical skills to ensure his clients are minimally impacted if changes need to be made to the expected days birding. All-in-all I cannot recommend Lakpa highly enough.
