This park was originally planned as a memorial park and is built on reclaimed industrial holding ponds. The ponds are refilled with stormwater runoff from the local area. The park won awards for its design when it opened in April of 2018. It has interpretive signage, several observation platforms over the water, varied habitat and has 1.6km of wide, flat well maintained gravel trails.

In the winter, the ponds are home to overwintering ducks as well as numerous other birds.

The 171 and 172, taken from Coquitlam Station, bus stops near the western entrance. The 173, from Port Coquitlam Station stops a few blocks away to the North of the park.

There is parking accessible at Blakeburn Park from Riverside Drive.

The main entrance for the park is off of Elbow place.This is a public park, and is open for free, every day.

Hours are reportedly 6AM - 11PM, year round.

The main entrance for the park is off of Elbow place.This is a public park, and is open for free, every day. Hours are reportedly 6AM - 11PM, year round.

There are two playgrounds as well as picnic tables in Blakeburn Park. There is also a memorial reflective space on the Eastern side of the park to reflect, heal and honour.

Add information about other attractions at this site, including

• sights (natural, cultural, archaeological, etc.)
• activities (e.g. for non-birding companions)

There are several viewing platforms available around the two ponds. There are no toilets available at the park.
