The Ukaguru Mountains range is one of the exceptional diverse plateau .Located in Morogoro region in Gairo district ,this one of the high area of endeminism of both flora and fauna,a typical characteristic of the eastern arc Mountains block.it covers an area of 1258.8km sq,The mkondoa river seperate this Mountains from those of the Rubeho which are 42km away in the southwesterly direction,the wetter Nguru Mountains block are in the North east,the mkata plains to the east and kibororiani Mountains to the west.This important bird area(IBA) is home to some of the endemic species such as rubeho warbler,rubeho forest patriage and other near endemics and Endemics birds of the eastern arc Mountains.The habitat is diverse comprising of miombo woodlands, higher and low montane forest,montane grassland and slightly open woodland.The forest is under the protection of tanzania forest service. The Ikwamba, Mamboto, Mamboya, Mamiwa Kisara North, Mamiwa Kisara South, Uponera makes up the 6 Mountain ranges of the ukaguru

The forest is accessed by two routes one is from the junction to mvumi 45 km and from the morogoro-dodoma road at gairo forest station via rubeho which is 42 km.From Morogoro town it is 83 km away.several buses and taxis pass through the main highway and can be booked at anytime ,the prices can be negotiated.By public buses it cost around 3usd(6000tsh) to Gairo ,then from gairo to the forest site is 10usd(20000tsh)by motorcycle

You will pay your entry fees at the Gairo forest station then from there your guide will give you a way forward .The fees for East africans is 2000tsh and for non east african is 5000tsh and also this fees applies to camping
