The best season to visit is from october to february the not rainy season and the most active of the Red Cotinga. This amazing species is at the forest all day long displaying at a lek of several individuals each one on its territory. Recommended to stay at least 2 nights to have the oportunity to see this bird and the other at trails. Nocturnal birwatching is a great idea too.

There is a local guide for the hotspot who will show you the trails and the right place for the best birds.

Once considered a dangerous region, the Caquetá department is one of the most benefited regions with the recent peace process of Colombia. Given the unpredictable weather, it is important to always carry a raincoat or umbrella. It is also recommended to carry a dry bag for equipment and snacks for trips in the jungle.

Although it is a humid tropical forest region, there are not as many mosquitoes as you would expect. Due to the presence of livestock pastures, scabies mites are possible, so it is recommended to wear long pants, socks and high (rubber) boots. It is not usual to find snakes.

Are there any security issues or other annoyances at this site? For
instance, these may include:
• offenses like robbery or theft
• natural hazards
• dangerous or annoying animals or plants (mosquitoes, leaches, thorn bushes, etc.)
• noise pollution
