Is a perfect place to visit at afternoon, from 3pm to 6pm. In the dry season (november to february there are sandy beaches full of shorebirds at rio Orteguaza. You have to go there in a car (there is no public transport to the exact place). Local guides can help you about it. Ther is a small fee to be payed to the owners of the farm to contribute to the conservation of forest.

The place is at 20 minutes from Florencia in your own transport (local guide can provide it too). Alternatively you can take a public transport from Florencia to La Montañita and stop at "La Vaca Muu" and walk to the place (2km birding)

The river offers amazing landscapes of the sunset after a nice birding afternoon. Every sunday morning there is a touristic ferry trip (Ferry Marco Polo at facebook) by the river from 9am to 4pm departing from Puerto Arango.

The place is safe and there are no security issues historically here. No herpets or any other animal advices. Recommended to use sunscreen. Rubber/waterproof boots are a good idea, specially to walk on mud or humid sands close to the river in the rainy season.

• dangerous or annoying animals or plants (mosquitoes, leaches, thorn bushes, etc.)
