India

Phawngpui National Park or Blue Mountain National Park is located high on Lushai Hills in the Indian state of Mizoram, near its border with Myanmar. Phawngpui is the highest peak in Mizoram, with extensive grassland and conifers on its slope ("phwang" = meadow,
and "pui"=great). There is a good bit of sub-tropical broadleaf forest near the base of the mountain. This mix of habitat offers some of the most coveted and hard to find birds of North-eastern India. The prime targets here are Mount Victoria Babax, Stripe-breasted Woodpecker, Chin Hills Wren Babbler, Hume's Treecreeper, Rufous-crowned Prinia, Mountain Bamboo Partridge, Striped Laughingthrush, Assam Laughingthrush, Spot-breasted Parrotbill, Brown Bush Warbler, Himalayan Wood Owl and many more. It is a good location for seeing a combination of South Assam Hill Species and Chin Hill species found in Myanmar. Infrastrure is basic, but small groups do visit with enough provisions and camping equipment.
Can be combined with other birding locations in Mizoram like Sailam and Murlen National Park.
