It's best to bird the canyon in two day starting early at the top one day and then halfway down (5 km) on the other day.  Most people do it in one day and it is certainly possible, but the site in afternoon will have much less activity as the temperatures soar.  Being part of the Chocó bioregion, rain is always a possibility.  It's best to go prepared.  Most of the birding is done along the main dirt road.

Give recommendations for making your visit as productive as possible.
This may include for instance:
• best season
• best time of the day
• how much time to spend at the site
• best means of locomotion within the site
• recommended routes / areas within the site
• guiding

About a 2 hour drive from Cali.  Drive north on the Panoramica through Yumbo to Mediacanoa.  This is about 1 hour.  Then drive up towards Calima Lake and continue towards Loboguerrero.  The last exit to get to the lake is near the exit to Restrepo.  Follow the road around the west side of the lake to the dam.  The road towards Ríobravo begins on the west side of the dam.

Explain from where and how to get to this site with private and public transport.
