If you want to enjoy Las Barrancas, you must arrive before dawn just when the bird activity begins. Because it is a grassland area in combination with bushes, birdwatching is easy as the birds are very easily detected. The best strategy is to move forward with your car and stop in different parts of the road looking for the birds that are between the pastures or in the bushes.

The site is good for bird watching any season of the year but during the fall and winter the species richness increases due to the presence of migratory and winter resident species.

You can stop practically anywhere on the way, but the map shows the places where you can find some representative species of the place. At noon the sun and heat are a problem because it is not an area with much coverage of large trees.

Give recommendations for making your visit as productive as possible.
This may include for instance:
• best season
• best time of the day
• how much time to spend at the site
• best means of locomotion within the site
• recommended routes / areas within the site
• guiding

The only safe way to get there is your own car as there is no bus service to take you there.

It is a road that goes from the highway to a small town near the sea so if you could get there in your car there is no major problem in traveling the road, birding must be done from the side of the road and not go through the fences since the Paddocks are private property and it is not necessary to enter the paddocks since the birds can be seen from the edge of the road.

Provide information on how to enter this site, which may include:
• entry points
• entry permits / entry tickets and fees
• opening hours / opening season
• other restrictions

Note that this section should only contain information on how to ACCESS (= enter) a site. Info on how to REACH a site should be added to "How to get there" section.

There is not some kind of attraction in the place other than the birds. If you are looking for something else to do, you can visit the city of Veracruz or Alvarado, which are located near Las Barrancas.

Add information about other attractions at this site, including
• wildlife (apart from birds)
• sights (natural, cultural, archaeological, etc.)
• activities (e.g. for non-birding companions)
